Sterlite Power Commissions 765KV Khandwa Substation in Madhya Pradesh

New Delhi, 23, April 2020: Sterlite Power, a leading global power transmission player, commissions the 765kV Khandwa substation in Madhya Pradesh, which is part of the Khargone Transmission Limited (KTL) project. This will play an important role in stepping down the high voltage 1320 MW power from Khargone Power Plant to further distribute it downstream to 50 million households across the states of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat.

Sterlite Power has so far commissioned 5 out of 6 elements in the project – 765kV substation at Khandwa, 765kV DC Khandwa-Indore transmission line, 400kV DC Khandwa–Khargone transmission line, 400kV LILO and Dhule bay extension. With these elements charged, KTL is already generating 55.55% revenue in tariffs.

Sterlite Power won the INR 1370 Cr Khargone Transmission project in 2015 through tariff-based competitive bidding process and is executing it under the Build, Own, Operate and Maintain (BOOM) model.
